About the role
As a Product Manager reporting to our Product & Design Lead, you’ll lead a talented squad of developers, designers, analysts and data specialists, driving the delivery of new products, systems and improvements as part of our company-wide Business Transformation Programme. Your role is all about translating big ideas into real results — from breaking down work into manageable chunks, to leading agile rituals, to ensuring what we deliver is valuable, functional, and future-focused.

Once our transformation programme wraps up, you’ll take ownership of a key product vertical (like unsecured loans), managing its evolution and performance, and ensuring the customer journey shines across our new digital platforms.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to deepen their expertise and become a product SME — with mentorship and guidance from senior leaders to help you get there.

Just some of the things you’re responsible for:

  • Lead the delivery squad to deliver high-impact product initiatives aligned with business goals.
  • Define clear objectives and outcomes, manage scopes, and prioritise features using data, insights, and customer feedback.
  • Champion product planning and iterative delivery — owning the product lifecycle from concept to deployment.
  • Collaborate with technical leads and stakeholders across the business to drive transformation success.
  • Optimise product performance through continuous improvement, backed by data and customer insights.
  • Develop your craft in product management while contributing to the evolution of a growing, digitally enabled finance company.

You’ll need to have:

  • Experience working in product, tech or financial services (5+ years preferred).
  • A working knowledge of Agile or Kanban delivery, and an understanding of what makes great products.
  • A natural ability to lead, influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for solving problems, shipping quality products, and championing customer needs.
  • A self-starter mindset with the drive to take ownership and grow into a senior product role.

What you’ll receive in return:

  • We’re a New Zealand business on a mission to be New Zealand’s favourite finance company, and we’re proudly based in Dunedin.
  • We share our success with our team - our incentive schemes are based on both individual and business outcomes.
  • A dynamic and collaborative culture with a central and modern office space and a team who enjoy working together and are proud to be MTFers.
  • A supportive and vibrant culture where our people work together to deliver on our commitments.
